Salary: $55,000-$62,000 annual salary

Paul Smith’s College is a private, four-year institution with approximately 750 students in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Department Description:

The Joan Weill Adirondack Library provides staff, collections, instruction, space, and services that enhance teaching, learning, research and scholarship for the campus and broader community. Our library and its staff strive to serve as a partner in the learning process, and expand beyond our position as custodians of resources and into meaningful collaboration and conversation on campus.

Position Description:

Paul Smith’s College is seeking applicants for the position of Student Success Librarian. This position works collaboratively across campus to provide information literacy instruction, student outreach, engagement, both inside and outside of the library. The Student Success Librarian will be the campus’s expert on Information Literacy and will work on its delivery and assessment through in-class library instruction, Faculty collaborations, and other initiatives. In collaboration with the Library Director and staff, this position helps to manage our Student Worker Program, provides references and circulation services and supports other library initiatives. We are seeking an energetic, creative, and learning-centered candidate to join our small team and work to advance information literacy, outreach, and assessment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plans Information Literacy instruction, coordinating both required and requested sessions.
  • Teaches the library’s instruction sessions and creates reusable instructional materials (lesson plans, tutorials, modules, etc.).
  • Designs ways of integrating library resources and services into the daily lives of students and collaborates with Faculty to integrate library resources into courses and the curriculum.
  • Creates student learning outcomes and assessment materials related to Information Literacy
  • Enables collaboration between the library and other departments, committees, and student groups on campus to create initiatives that foster student success.
  • Collaborates to manage thriving student worker program to encourage career readiness in student employees and assist library technician in student worker management.
  • Creates educationally and institutionally relevant programs and events in coordination with Student Workers and Library Staff.
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, and best practices in academic library outreach, instruction, information access, and assessment. Actively seeks relevant initiatives for local implementation.
  • Provides proactive, user-centered service to library users.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
